Purpose of the role
Enfys has been at the forefront of reuse, having run one of the first HWRC reuse shops since 2014, diverting over 250 tonnes every year from waste streams. Now we want to start a full-time repair project to save even more items from going to waste or recycling. It’s an ambitious project, but we will partner with Repair Cafe Wales who have a lot of experience in pop-up repair cafes.
We are looking for experienced volunteers with all sorts of repair skills, but we are starting with electrical or electronic repairs.
Skills, experience and qualities needed
Essential
- Proven experience in electrical or electronic fields
- Enjoy working as part of a team
- Willing to be adaptable as this is a new project and we will all be learning along the way
Desirable
- Customer service – most roles will involve interacting with members of the public at times. However, if you have challenges that make this difficult, we will try to make adjustments where possible. For example, English may be a second language.
- Basic IT skills
- We would love more Welsh speakers in Enfys
When and where
The repair project is based in Neath town centre.
Support offered
Enfys will provide you with an induction and cover approved expenses. We will also provide some basic training. If you require additional support, please let us know. We are a small charity with limited resources, but we do already support a number of volunteers who require additional support, so please don’t be put off from applying.
What you could get out of it
Enfys Reuse & Restore exists to provide furniture & other items for people in need, and community activities that bring people together. In doing so we also protect the environment by diverting hundreds of tonnes from potentially going to waste.
What you get out of it is the same as us – the sheer joy of being able to show human kindness to people who are in a tough place in their lives. We are utterly determined that their interaction with Enfys is a happy one underpinned by providing a dignified experience.
If you are the sort of person who gets pleasure from fixing things, then we hope that the Repair project will be delightful for you!

There is no application form. Please call (01639 641631) or fill out the short form below, and we will arrange to meet up for an informal chat. We interview volunteers to ensure that Enfys is a good fit for them, and it gives Enfys & the volunteer an opportunity to discuss the role in more detail, as well as explain our vision and values.
