Although hard disk drives come larger and larger, there is never quite sufficient space. Video games and even office apps take more and more space. Do you ever analyze analysis disk space?
Frequently the root of the problem is not in the programs but rather in temporary or system files they create. 90 per cent of the time they terminate everything they have created at the end of each session or when you uninstall them. Regrettably, there is always a small amount of files that never gets erased. A couple of months later you may even have to clean up the hard disk manually using a formatting program and then install the operating system anew.
I am not saying that disk space used management ends up with disks formatting and applications reinstallation. Lots of programs exist that assist users in organizing their directories.
Using standard programs may be a nice idea if you use mostly My Documents folder to store your things. Unfortunately, few people are so disciplined when it comes to their computers. It is not rare for some of us to get creative when selecting a folder name. The folder will be still there even after the impulse has gone. Regular applications are not that well equipped to manage non-standard problems.
It is not so easy to show folder size. Try finding large files and folders using conventional programs and you will see how difficult it is. They are slow even on upgraded machines when it comes to calculating the size of directories. One more problem is that they don't help in finding where the hugest space occupants are situated. In some occasional cases it is next to unrealizable to find these well-hidden files and folders.
